1953 Indian Chief - Bob Markey's Favorite Chief!
Dad's 1953 Chief is for sale! This bike belonged to Bob Markey, an Indian racer and dealer. He restored this bike in 1973 and started riding it in 1974, he rode it until 2011 when he couldn't ride anymore. When it was restored he used a LOT of New Old Stock Genuine Factory Indian parts, including all of the sheet metal. And if it wasn't New Old Stock, it was the best used original parts available. This bike has very few reproduction parts on it. Of course it was well maintained over the years, with approximately 45,000 miles on it. There was at least one rebuild during those miles.
This machine was always a solo seat bike (with seat post) and linkert controls. A five digit number, one of the last 300 built. We don't think it was ever a police bike. Bob rode a lot of other year Indians and models of Indians, Four Cylinders, Sport Scouts, Junior Scouts, other Chiefs and other motorcycles, but this was his favorite!
